Course Rules

What is Not Allowed

The following will not be allowed on the race course at any time:

  • Bicycles
  • Roller skates
  • Roller blades
  • Skateboards
  • Animals

*Assistance received from a non-race official could result in disqualification.*

Traffic Control

This is a traffic controlled course. The Wichita Police Department will be manning all major intersections, and volunteers will be in the neighborhoods. In many areas, only one side of the road will be blocked off for a running lane. Please make sure you are running on the correct side of the cones as to avoid serious injury.

Although we make every attempt to stop traffic for runners, there is always the possibility that a driver will not obey the barricades or volunteer commands. For this reason, please be alert to your surroundings at all times. We also highly recommend that you do not run with headphones as they may distract you from observing your surroundings.

Opening and Closing Times

The half marathon course will be open for four hours beginning at 7:30 a.m. The course closes at 11:30 a.m. If runners choose to continue after 11:30 a.m. they do so at their own risk. After 11:30 a.m. you will be asked to move from the streets to the sidewalks and obey all traffic signals along the course.

Please arrange a post-race meeting place with loved ones before the race begins, as we will not use the public address system to page family members; unless a child is missing.
